First bowel movement of the day is generally solid - followed later in the day by volumetrically smaller mostly liquid movements, and by the end of the day acidic versions.
Heartburn is common for me most days.
All of this is exacerbated by eating too much during the day.
These problems have been going on since my gall bladder removal last year, and somewhat so before that.
Also, my surgery was laparoscopic and the surgeon said I had a hiatal hernia that I was unaware of.

Brief Answer:
Hernia not cause of your problems.
Detailed Answer:
Hi back Kirwood,
1. It is normal to have such digestive problems especially after gallbladder removal and when food restrictions are not respected.
2. I advise to start taking Omeprazole and antacids together with following strict diet regimen.
3. Abdominal ultrasound is advised to look at the liver and liver-biliary channels. MRCP might be scheduled to evaluated this internal biliary channels better. Discuss it further with your GI specialist.
4. As you have not been unware of hiatal hernia, this makes me think that it is small in size and does not cause any serious problem. It has nothing to do with your current problems.
Once again, please follow the diet changes accordingly and discuss with your GI doctor about my other options.
Hope it helped!
