Brief Answer:
The sign needs to be dealt with caution. Visit a doctor.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX

Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through the details. Pyloric stenosis is a possibility to consider but one episode of projectile vomiting does not essentially mean pyloric stenosis. The cause could range from simple harmless feed intolerance to severe causes like head injury and internal bleeding. But at the same time it is a caution sign and should not be ignored.

If the child has occasionally passed curdled milk less than 50% of the amount consumed in the previous feed, I would not get concerned. But if it was relatively frequent or the amounts were more than 50% of the amount of previous feed, the likelihood of pyloric stenosis increases. But on the other hand, passing of normal stools is a bit reassuring.

Since the sign of projectile vomiting is related to pyloric stenosis or dangerous conditions like internal bleeding in the brain of the child, it should not be ignored. Visiting a doctor would make things clearer.

In summary, I would suggest you not to panic. But please visit a pediatrician or a pediatric surgeon who can examine the abdomen of the child and comment better. Depending upon his clinical suspicion, he would also be able to take an x ray or test for a couple of things in the blood that could go wrong and thereafter reach the final diagnosis. You would have to be patient till then.

Let me assure you that pyloric stenosis is a condition that is very easy to to treat. The surgery is very simple and takes no more than 15 mins. All the surgeon has to do is to XXXXXXX the part. So, stay relaxed. Things would just be fine.
