Suggest Treatment For Prostatitis After Unprotected Oral Sex

default
Posted on Fri, 4 Nov 2016
Question: Relevant information:
Three years ago I had unprotected oral and regular sex with a girl. About a week later I noticed all the symptoms of chlamydia, I know this because I had it once before in the past. I started taking doxycycline, which was working, but I run out. A week later it’s back in full force. I go to the doctor he prescribes me azithromycin which has no effect, my girlfriend got tested and it’s not any standard std. I take doxy again, it works and the worst of it is gone. But since then during sex, especially after that feeling of like holding it back, there is a ton of clear discharge. Way too much to go unnoticed, and then for 2 hours after as well, enough to make a mess. Also, when urinating I dribble at the end for about 5 minutes, no matter how long I try. I went to a urologist who essentially told me I’d have to live with it and there’s no test he can do, which is devastating since it effectively ends my sex life all together. He said he could test for a stricture but didn’t.

The question:
Is there really no test other than a urine test(which came up negative)? Could it be a prostate infection from oral sex? Could it be a stricture? I haven’t noticed any problem maintaining a stream of urine, only at the end does it seem to be a problem. How does a stricture produce discharge? Thank you for your time.

Brief Answer:
Mostly it is due to Prostatitis

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query ,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have developed Prostatitis secondary to Chlamydia .

Since you do not have urinary symptoms like poor stream ,straining to pass urine etc it is unlikely that symptoms could be due stricture of urethra .

I would suggest to consult qualified Urologist for clinical and digital rectal examination and get following basic tests done to confirm the diagnosis.
1) Urine routine and culture.
2) Ultrasound scanning of abdomen and pelvis
3) Swab test and culture of urethral discharge obtained after prostate massage .
4) Endoscopic Examination of bladder (Cystoscopy)

Till then take Bactrim twice daily

Further treatment will depend upon result of these tests and final diagnosis

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions , I shall be happy to help you .
Thanks and Regards.

Does a stricture cause discharge like this? They did the urine culture and the ultrasound(I think, at least of my abdomen) and they came back negative. The urologist I saw said there is no way to test for a specific bacteria, and didn’t mention anything about a uretheral discharge culture test. Would you suggest seeing another urologist? He’s the only one medicaid covered, so I’m wondering if maybe that test wasn’t covered by insurance so he didn’t bother mentioning it.

Could it still be contagious? How long does bactrim usually take before you see a change? And If bactrim doesn’t work, then what? I’ve already tried cipro, and doxy. Also I sometimes notice a slight pain in my right testicle, could that be related? I’m sorry for all the questions, it’s just really important, and I’m having a really hard time getting help.

Brief Answer:
Yes it is likely to be transmitted throuh unprotected sex

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for follow up .
Prostatitis can be transmitted through unprotected sex .
The response to antibiotic depends upon the sensitivity pattern of bacteria That is why it is mandatory to do culture and take appropriate antibiotic as per culture report .

Get the tests done and take the medications religiously.

Thanks and Regards.

The only doctor I can come close to affording says “only option is cut it off”(meaning my penis, direct quote), no tests offered other than a urine culture that he didn’t bother sending in. Nothing, and it means I can never be with a girl again, use a public bathroom, sleep without extra thick boxers on, or even know what’s wrong with me and if I can give it to someone else. No one can tell me anything but ‘get tests done somewhere else’, at best, and there is nowhere else, the only available doctor for me doesn’t even seem to be aware of them, let alone willing/available to discuss any of it aside from the the 3 minutes I got to see him after a 4 month in advance appointment, and I have no idea how to bring up that I think more can be done/tested for without appearing disrespectful, if I ever did get past the waiting period. I’m on my own, and I’m screwed, got it. I appreciate your time and I apologize for the rant. I think you understand the frustration, which has nothing to do with you.
