Question: I've been battling pruritus ani for several years now, I've been on Clotrimazole and Dipropionate lotion and I just can't get rid of it. Now they say it's a fissure and put me on Diltiazeam 2% in white pet and I'm still bleeding and sore. This is getting very old and I am going back to the (Colon/Rectal)specialist on Friday. What kind of help can I ask for?

Brief Answer:
Avoid constipation and take high fibre diet.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX. If its a fissure then it would have been caused by a period of constipation. It is just a tear in the mucosa at the anal verge. For it to heal you need to avoid constipation by taking high fibre diet and lots of fluids. You could also take some stool softeners in consultation with your Doctor. Diltiazem would help relieve the muscle spasm which leads to this condition so please continue that. Dont worry it will take some time but you will be fine in a fee weeks. Do let me know if I can be of anymore help. If no more queries please rate tje answer. Take care.
