default
Posted on Wed, 24 Sep 2014
Question: I've been battling pruritus ani for several years now, I've been on Clotrimazole and Dipropionate lotion and I just can't get rid of it. Now they say it's a fissure and put me on Diltiazeam 2% in white pet and I'm still bleeding and sore. This is getting very old and I am going back to the (Colon/Rectal)specialist on Friday. What kind of help can I ask for?

Brief Answer:
You can ask for the following...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I am sorry for the situation you are in. You can discuss with the proctologist about the following:
- to examine the anal structures in order to determine why you are having itching problems? Apart physical examination, anoscopy is also advised.

- if fissure will be confirmed, you should discuss about surgical treatment

- if you have been suffering of constipation, proctologist should look for possible hemorrhoids (internal or external) and discuss the best option to get them treated apart avoiding constipation

- examine your stool for ova/parasites; they are often associated with pruritus

- consultation with dermatologist is also needed to exclude dermatological problems like psoriasis, etc.

- diabetes testing are advised to exclude diabetes

- uro-genital issues should be excluded too.

Hope it helped!
