Question: hi doc.
extensive hx . please read last questions I asked .

I had angioedema lungs, then turned into pulmonary edema . got Lasix from my allergist/immunologist.
she tells me I still have mast cell disease but also have hereditary angioedema.odd presentation as I got pericardial effusions and pulmonary edema with it , belly not so swollen . took a year for them to find it . I go to RUSH in XXXXXXX - teaching hospital.... going to start kalbitor injections. I feel scared to take Lasix makes me feel very bad. feel fine now. do I need so much medicine every day or just when I have edema flare? I still work , etc

Brief Answer:
I would recommend to discuss with your doctor for an alternative:

Detailed Answer:

Hello!

Thank you for asking on HCM!

Regarding your concern, I would explain that angioedema treatment is symptom-based therapy. That is the primary strategy is to promptly treat those sudden edema attacks (and Kalbitor, probable corticosteoids, sometimes epinephrine, and lasix [as you experience pulmonary edema] are the mainstay of therapy). Outside the main edema attacks, it is necessary to maintain a reduced therapy (and this would be driven by remaining symptoms and signs). Facing y our age, Lasix doesn't seem to be a convenient choice, nevertheless, everything will depend on the severity of symptoms and the risk level for future edema attacks.

I would recommend you to discuss with your attending doctor about the above mentioned issues, and for a possible more acceptable therapeutic alliterative.

Hope to have been helpful!

Feel free to ask me whenever you need! Greetings! Dr. Iliri
