Suggest Treatment For Raised Amylase Level

Brief Answer:
stop alcohol. get an ultrasound
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
What are the upper limits of lipase and amylase in your lab. In case your levels are less than two times the upper limit then they are not clinically significant.
Did you have abdominal pain?
The best treatment would be completely stopping alcohol and taking plenty of fluids
I would also advice an ultrasound of the abdomen to look for swelling over the pancreas and gall stones or common bile duct Stones.
Hope this helps
Do get back invade you have further queries

Thank you Dr. XXXXXXX XXXXXXX for your feedback.
I have taken these tests at Thyrocare lab and their upper limits for amylase is 118 U/L. My reading is 161.
Upper limits for lipase as per lab is 51.3, my reading is 105.
If you wish I cud send you scanned copies of these reports.
As you mentioned, alcohol intake shall be stopped.
Shall go for an Ultra sound as you mentioned.
Meanwhile, is there any dietary restrictions; I am a vegetarian and eat eggs very occasionally.
Have moderate intakes of tea and coffee.
FYG, had taken azithromycin for fever about 7 days before test.
Is there any corelation?
Kindly suggest any remedy other than what you have mentioned.
Thanking you

Brief Answer:
no dietary changes, no medications needed
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Your lipase results are not significantly raised. Amylase isntwo tomesnthe upper limit of normal. But since you did not have any symptoms we can't make a diagnosis of pancreatitis based on you amylase levels alone. An ultrasound will help.
You don't need any medications apart from the multivitamins you are taking. Alcohol stopping is the only treatment in case the USG is normal. You don't need to follow dietary restriction. Risebis inlikely ti be due to azithromycin
Hope this helps
