I was diagnosed with Diabetes first in 2005..Initially I did not take regular medication but from 2009, have been taking metformin regularly..
From Feb. 2014, I have been taking Januvia and Metformin dosage as mention in Current medication.
My fasting Sugar levels remain in the range of 180 - 210 and post prandial in the range of 190-210..Randomly if I check, it will be around 205. I did my test in XXXXXXX 2014 before strting Januvia and current medication and results are as under;

MEAN PLASMA GLUCOSE 237.4 High < 116.0 mg/dL
I have not done the tests again..Pls advice, if I am taking the right medicine.
Needs addition of one more drug or Insulin
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I went through the query and understood your concern.
Your sugar levels are raised. You need to take medications regularly along with life style modifications.
Medications:
The drugs are right but your sugar level is not controlled. So you need addition of another drug along with them. You can add sulfonyl urea group of drug like glimeperide or voglibose. These will help in reduction of blood sugar.
If not controlled even with 3 drugs then Insulin will be the best option for controlling sugar level.
So right now you need addition of another drug. You can discuss with your consultant as explained above and based on the examination he will decide the treatment.
I like to give few more information for controlling sugar level.
Lifestyle modification:
Exercise. 30 minutes every day for at least 6 days a week. Exercise like brisk walk, jogging, cycling, swimming, aerobics will help.
Diet: Having food with complex carbohydrates like whole grains, vegetables, greens and fruits. Always vegetables grown over earth is better than roots and tubers. Less consumption of fat and refined sugars. Maintain BMI well with in normal range.
You need to check your renal, liver function test along with lipid profile and retinal examination once. These investigations are required to rule out any problem due to uncontrolled diabetes.
I hope this information helps you. Feel free to ask if any further queries or information. I will be glad to answer them.
Wish you good health
Regards
