Suggest Treatment For Raised Hallux Causing Pain In Toe
Hallux & treatment
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX
Let me explain in detail about Hallux .
Two type :Hallux rigidus & Hallux valgus.
After reading your query , you are having Hallux rigidus.
This condition occurs as two distinct varieties, both more common in men.
In both the METATARSOPHALANGEAL joint of great toe is STIFF & PAINFUL.
1 This is due to synovitis of the metatarsophalangeal joint following injury, and is associated with muscular spasm . As you mentioned that you are inducing cramp in the flexor and paroneous longus muscle but this provide temporary relief but not a treatment.
The treatment :It is relieved by wearing a metatarsal bar 2 cm.wide and 1.25 cm thick . Size may vary according to the shape and size of great toe.
2 The is nothing more than MONARTICUALR OSTEOARTHROSIS , sometimes precipitated by injury ( may be in your case due to rock climbing).
In this limitation of movement is due to :
Capsular fibrosis
Deformation of the articualr surface
Interlocking of the osteophytes
Treatment.
The condition may be treated by fitting a METATARSAL BAR .
Take serratiopeptidase 20 mg thrice in day , as this will reduce edema ( if present ),but this has its limit ,may relieve pain but not a treatment .
2nd option is SURGERY especially if the hyperdorsiflexion has developed at the interphalangeal joint of the great toe.Consult an ORTHOPEDIC SURGEON and get his opinion , if hyperdorsiflexion has developed.
3rd option is physiotherapy under the ortho physiotherapist .
Hope I have answered your question .
Good luck.
