Suggest Treatment For Rashes And Blotchy Spots On Body Of A Child

Question: My 5 year old has Downs and has been experiencing rashes or blotchy spots all over his body at very random times. His pediatrician has seen him a couple times over the last year but does not seemed concerned. As his parents, we are very concerned. We have made an appt with a dermatologist in the next 3 weeks. What do you feel are the potential causes?
Brief Answer:
Urticaria
Detailed Answer:
Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query.
The child might have developed urticaria.
It's an allergic reaction and requires treatment with antihistamines.
I treat such cases with syrup cetrizine 3 ml daily in night gor a week and local application of a mild steroid cream like desonide to be applied daily in night for a week.
If possible upload a photograph of the involved area.
You can even mail me photographs on YYYY@YYYY with subject as ATTN Dr Rahul Kumar.
This will help me in giving a closer diagnosis.
Thank you.
