Suggest Treatment For Receding Hairline And Hair Loss
Question: hi i am suffering from androgenetic alopecia. I'm a male 33 years old married I have been suffering from hair loss since last six years, fewer yearsback I have consulted a doctor who prescribed me minoxidil 5% along with a vitamin but I didn't continued for a long. Now I'm very serious about my hair loss as my frontal hairline has receded significantly as well as the frontal/top Crown part, the sides and the back looks pretty much okay. In my last blood test my vitamin B12 is low. I request you to suggest something so that I can regain my lost hair and stop hair loss.

Androgenetic alopecia is characterized by gradually progressive hair loss and thinning from frontal as well as the crown part of the scalp.
This is associated with gradually receding anterior hair line as well as widening and deepening of the angles of anterior hair line.
Approved medical treatment options include topical minoxidil and Oral finasteride.
The goal of medical treatment is to arrest/ slow down further progression. It may not completely reverse the hair loss and thinning i.e the aim is to preserve existing hair.
Therefore medical treatment should be started as early as possible before alopecia has progressed to later stages and is to be continued life long.
New hair regrowth is also expected. It is usually noticeable after 3-6 months of regular treatment and is maximal by 1-2 years of continued treatment.
I suggest you to restart topical 5% Minoxidil solution (1 ml twice daily) as well as add once daily Oral finasteride to it.

Request you to kindly give a prescription with medicine name and usage direction. I have also mentioned that I have low vitamin B12 pls suggest if it is anyway related with hair loss. I would also like to know about hair transplant- there are many commercial companies advertising about hair transplant but I am not very sure about them, request you to suggest a professional clinic anywhere in XXXXXXX where I can consider transplant and should I consider hair transplant at this stage or medical treatment is enough for me

Similarly finasteride is marketed by Dr. Reddy's lab as well as Cipla Ltd.
Any one can be chosen out of these.
These are prescription medication and would be easily available from a drug store near you.
However, you would require a written prescription from your local doctor as your local chemist would be dispensing the brand name that is being commonly prescribed by your local doctor.
Minoxidil is used in 5% strength in males, It should be applied twice daily i.e 1 ml morning and 1 ml in evening.
Minoxidil should be applied on absolutely clean scalp. Hair oil should be avoided when you are using minoxidil.
In morning after shampoo, scalp should be air dried before applying minoxidil. Applying minoxidil on wet scalp may dilute the concentration.
Application should be with the help of a dropper. Application should be started from the center of scalp and gradually moving outwards.
At night the solution is applied the same way. There is no need to shampoo again in evening.
Finasteride tablet 1 mg is to be taken once daily, in morning, before or after meal.
Vitamin B 12 deficiency has nothing to do with hair loss in androgenetic alopecia.
