Suggest Treatment For Rectal Cancer
Question: mum has rectal cancer and has had chemoradiation before a planned operation. if mum is overweight at 16 stone can she still have this operation done. Do you see this be early stage? If so what stage and does mum have a good prognosis?

It seems that your mother will need a end-colostomy meaning permanent colostomy as per the letter you have provided.
16 stone is about 224 lbs or more than 100 kg and has lower abdominal apron which makes fashioning of colostomy a difficult job to maintain in future. It can be done but will be difficult to maintain the tightness and cleaning hence the need to loose weight.
The letter dates back to XXXXXXX 17, almost 4 months back hence the follow-up with the Team of Oncologist, Oncosurgeon, stoma therapist and the recent investigations should tell about the prognosis.

mum is struggling to lose weight. all health conditions are stable and well controlled. surgery will hopefully be within November. Mum finished chemoradiation in August 9th 2017. had MRI and CT Scan last week awaiting results. we were originally told mum can be cured. What are your thought please I am so worried
