Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can Achy Rectum And Fissure Be Related To Rectal Cancer?
Hi, I had a very short case of genital warts on my scrodum and penis for just a few weeks when I was 17. I am now 42 and have been having some problems with an achy rectum as well as a fissure on the opening of my rectum and itching. I am somewhat concerned that the two could be related to possible rectal cancer. What do you think?
No, anal fissure is not related to rectum cancer. I suggest you to consult a surgeon for the treatment.
Meanwhile, some advice that I can give to you is:
1) Using over-the-counter stool softeners, drinking more fluids. 2) Taking fiber supplements and eating more fibrous foods, such as raw fruits and vegetables. 3) Taking warm baths called sitz baths to relax the anal muscles, relieve irritation, and increase blood flow to the anorectal area.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi
