Hello! Thanks for putting your query in HCM. I am a Gastroenterologist.

I can understand your concern

I want to know whether you have gone endoscopy examination?

If yes, whether your lower oesophageal sphincter was relaxed or hiatus hernia present?

If yes, then reflux may be long lasting.

Apart from medicine you have to do some life style modifications also:

1. Avoid tea, coffee, oily and spicy food.
2.Also avoid citrus fruits.
3.Don't lie down at least for 2 hrs after any meal and
4. Don't drink water for at least 2 hrs with any meal.
5. Do regular aerobic exercise

Usually this condition can be controlled with medicine and lifestyle modifications. I know taking medicines for years is problematic, I can understand that. However these proton pump inhibitor have been proven to have minimal side effects even if taken for 15 years

If both medicine and lifestyle modifications fail then only option left will be surgical.

I hope I have answered your query and this will help you . Wish you a good health

Thanks for the reply Doctor !

I haven't had endoscopy examination yet.
I have had medications to create H.pilory bacteria ,but my reflux got worse after that course.
I feel fine if I take my medicine regularly. Do you suggest to continue razo 20 . Is there no way I can avoid reflux without having to take medicine daily.

Brief Answer:
Follow lifestyle modifications

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back

You can get endoscopy examination to confirm whether the lower oesophageal sphincter is relaxed or not and whether there is hiatus hernia or not. If either or both of these are there then reflux may be almost a permanent disease.

However some times the reflux can be controlled with above mentioned lifestyle modifications only. So you should try lifestyle modifications and take razo on sos basis that is whenever required. Otherwise continue with razo

Wish you a good health
