Suggest Treatment For Recurrent Bladder Infection After A Heart Surgery
Question: My husband has had major heart surgery. While hospitalized, he developed C. diff infection. They gave him flagyl and later vancomycin. The symptoms disappeared. He then developed a bladder infection for which he was given doxycycline hyclate. Now, symptoms of both conditions are back He is taking vancomycin again. Should we stop the doxycycline hyclate? What medication would you recommend?
Brief Answer:
hospital source infections like Clostridium Difficile are difficult to cure
Detailed Answer:
Hi welcome to Health care magic,
Nosocomial or hospital source infections like Clostridium Difficile are difficult to eradicate.
I would suggest a urine and stool culture and repeated/or prolonged appropriate treatment without let up to treat the infection.
Other measure like drinking lemon barley, 3 litres of water a day should also be followed.
If Diabetic, strict control of blood glucose is advised.
You can revert back.
