Question: My cystic acne has gotten worse from the last year. I'm 19, attend a university and am in public daily. I am embarrassed by my red bumps on my face. I took Accutane when i was 15, and now it feels like I never even took it. Quick advice. Dermatologist can't get me in until November.

Brief Answer:
Cystic acne is severe form of acne

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome to HCM..

I understand your concern for treatment of cystic acne. Cystic acne is a severe form of acne. You have to keep patience and get the perfect treatment after consulting the dermatologist.

You may continue isotretinoin in low dose. Minocycline 50 mg cap may be taken daily for long time. Other alternative is Dapsone. Dapsone 100 mg once a day may be taken under observation of dermatologist.

Intracystic injection ...of steroid like triamcenolone 10 mg may be taken from dermatologist. If needed it may be repeated after one month. This might enhance improvement of cystic acne.

I think this would help you in managing your cystic acne. If you have any query, you are welcome.

Thanks.
