Suggest Treatment For Recurrent Deviated Nasal Septum
As below:
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for your query.
1. I would be able to help you better if you could upload images of your Sinus CT Scan. If you have been given detailed operative notes, please attach them. Otherwise ask for them as these procedures were not more than ten days ago.
2. Ideally, a DNS should not be severe, even if there is fibrosis and slight deviation during healing. This is compensated by turbinate reduction. These together with FESS should improve ventilation of the sinuses.
3. An important concept in FESS is that the mucosal allergy does not change and hence requires long term medical treatment to heal the nose and sinuses.
4. The normal healing period after FESS, septoplasty and turbinate reduction is 4-6 weeks and may take up to 4 to 6 months depending upon the extent of surgery. That is when you will be able to reassess your symptoms or repeat a Sinus CT Scan.
5. I would be more worried about a septal perforation than a DNS as a possible sequelae of revision septal surgery. If there are persitent symptoms, repeat a CT Scan after 4-6 weeks and contact me directly at bit.ly/Dr-Sumit-Bhatti for further treatment options.
I sincerely do hope that you XXXXXXX not require any treatment after two surgeries.
I hope that I have answered your queries. If you have any further questions, I will be available to answer them.
Regards.
