Question: I am s/p 2 years adenocarcinoma of the pancreas. Latest PET scan clean. However I am experiencing chills and fever that last for one day and the fever breaks with aspirin and much sweating. Happened again last night. It is almost a monthly thing. I have been to doctors and they think it is a short lived virus. Do you have any suggestions as to what may be causing this?

Brief Answer:
Please get your urine tested

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I am sorry to learn about your condition. The fevers with chills and rigors have most likely been caused due to viral infections (which may occur in case of depressed immunity which occurs in case of carcinoma). However, I would insist you to get your routine microscopy and culture of your urine done as urinary tract infection is another possible cause.

As of now, my suggestion would be to take a wholesome daily diet and to back it with regular exercise. Take Paracetamol or Acetaminophen instead of aspirin to bring down the fever. Stay well hydrated by drinking lot of water. Also use tepid sponging.

Let me know if I could help further.

Regards
