Suggest Treatment For Recurrent Large Painful Canker Sores At The Back Of The Throat
Question: Yes, thank you. I have been bothered continuously with canker sores over the last 18 months. When one is about gone, another begins. Some are very large and painful. My dentist prescribed: fluocionide 0.05% gel. This helps to relieve some of the pain, if the sore is in a spot that I can treat it. Recently, they have appeared on the back of my throat. Both the dentist and PCP think they are caused by stress. Could this be a side effect to some medications I am taking? Do you have any ideas for prevention/treatment of this very bothersome problem?

As far as the ulcers are concerned, it can be a recurrent aphthous ulcer secondary to stress, anxiety or too much of tension. Nothing to be panic, you have to lead a stress free life. Medicines might work, when the ulcer appears. but you need to prevent the occurrence of the ulcer by leading a calm life. Regarding medicine induced ulcers, it's really rare to produce these kind of ulcers by drugs. So nothing to worry. you can take topical steroids like triamcinolone acetonide 0.1% which is very effective along with topical anesthetic like lignocaine. Do saline gargling.
