Suggest Treatment For Recurrent Sinusitis Rhinitis After Stopping Citrizine

Question: Hi...
My son, 8 yr old. He's sneezing for last 1 month like hell out of his nose, specially in the morning or evening. He sneezes 2-6 times in a row and around 5-6 times a day. I consulted Child specialist (MBBS/MD) and he diagnosed as sinusitis rhinitis, Rx'd Azithral for 2 days and Citrizine syrup 7 days. On follow-up, seeing no improvement, he suggested me to go to an ENT guy 'coz he thought some blocking of nostrils were seen.
I visited the ENT corner in the hospital where the Dr. suggested that the sneezing is all because of some allergy or cold and nostrils are okay but a little overgrowth of nasal bone and doesn't need to be treated 'coz the child is still growing and can't be operated.
He also prescribed some medicines mainly citrizine and multivitamin syrup.
It helps only when he continues his citrizine dose but on stopping it comes back. I've taken ample measure to tackle the possibilities of any allergy but in-vein.
Please help

Brief Answer:
Your son is mostly having allergic rhino sinusitis

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX ,

As per your clinical history it appears that your son is having allergic rhino sinusitis. Allergy can be controlled but difficult to completely cure it .
It will subsides after some years.

If I were your treating doctor , I would advice him
Steam Inhalation twice daily,
Combination Steroid nasal spray with antihistamine 1 puff each nostril twice daily like Nezalast or Duonase .
Gargle with water 20 mins after nasal spray use to remove any spray coming to throat .
I will control allergy better.

I would also advice x ray nasopharynx lateral view to diagnose any adenoid enlargement.

Hope this information helpful to you .If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
Regards.
