Suggest Treatment For Red Dots On Face And Swollen Eyelids

Question: Hi ... i woke up today after drinking too much wine last night & eating a bunch of very salty cured meats at a party like proscuitto and salami and cheese which I almost NEVER eat! I woke up feeling not so good from the wine and not eating enough food with it. I took my morning vitamins and herbs that I have been taking every day for 2 years for a variety of health issues that are getting better. I had some green tea then proceeded to throw up all my pills which also NEVER happens. Then all of a sudden these tiny little red dots started appearing all over my face and neck in clusters, scattered like freckles (which they are not!)
I am wondering if I am having an allergic reaction to the usual foods that i ate? These dots do not hurt, I just look terrible, plus my eyeslids are very swollen. Do you have any idea what this might be and should i go to a doctor or just sit this out??? Thanks ....

Brief Answer:
Go for evaluation in ER
Detailed Answer:
Hello! Thanks for putting your query in HCM. I am a Gastroenterologist (DM). Either it may be due to some allergic reaction to meat you have taken, may be an anaphylasix which is an emergency or it may be due to some food poisoning. So I will advise you to visit your doctor in ER for evaluation and management.
I hope I have answered your query and this will help you. If you have any further query I will be happy to answer that too. Remain in touch and get-well soon.

hi ... thanks for your response.
I did not go to the doctor or ER today. I am feeling ok except still have dozens and dozens of little red dots, they look almost like broken blood vessels, (they are not raised at all) some in clusters but also individual ones dotting my forehead, chin and neck. The larger clusters are under my eyes and on the eye lids.
I am getting ready to go to sleep, wondering if I should try Benadryl? They do not itch or hurt, just look terrible! I am redheaded and very fair skinned so the dots look even more pronounced!
If they are not gone in the am i will go to the doctor. In the meantime, would Benadryl be of any use? My eyelids are still swollen as well as dotted.
Thanks, ~XXXX

Brief Answer:
You may take benadryl for a while
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
Benadryl is an antihistamine and it may help in relieving your symptoms. You can take it for now. But I would urge you see the doctor if the condition doesn't improve by tomorrow.
Wish you a good health.
