Suggest Treatment For Red Itchy Rashes Around Mouth
Perioral dermatitis
Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us
I have gone through your query and I have also reviewed the Image.
I can see a confluent red rash with small red bumps at corners of the mouth. I would keep a possibility of perioral dermatitis.
Perioral dermatitis is more commonly seen in those who have a sensitive skin. It may present at the angles of nose, nasolabial folds and corners of mouth with redness, itching, burning and small red bumps which may coalesce.
Classically perioral dermatitis is reported as a side effect in those who use potent topical flourinated steroids on face. It is also reported as a side effect in those who use flourinated toothpaste. Perioral dermatitis may also happen in response to cosmetics like sunscreen, moisturisers etc. However, the condition is idiopathic in great majority of patients.
If I was the treating doctor I would advice you to stop using any of these products which you may be using that are known to exacerbate or initaite perioral dermatitis
In addition would start you on Oral tetracyclines i.e Doxycycline 100 mg twice daily for 3-4 weeks and then review the treatment, according to response. In addition I would also like to add topical pimecrolimus 1% cream, twice daily for the rash.
These are prescription medications and therefore I suggest that you visit a doctor in your vicinity for the needful.
