Suggest Treatment For Red Lump On Neck

Question: I had a tb of lymph node... I took forcox for 6 months... But after one month later there is a lump in my neck again and become red..my doctor asked me check wbc and ESR..everything is found ok..ESR is 2. My doctor is not able to understand.please help.what should I do?

I understand your concern. I am Dr. Arun Tank, infectious disease specialist, answering your concern.

- There is a possibility of recurrence of TB in you.

- I advice you to do the FNA biposy from the Lump and go for Microscopic examination as well as GeneXpert testing of you.

- It will give you definite diagnosis regarding tuberculosis. It also gives resistant testing of the commonly used drugs for bacilli of the tuberculosis.

- If the Drug resistant is detected it says that TB recurs because of the drug resistance.

my fnac report confirmed that I am still having tb..now I am more worried. is it curable ? where should I take treatment in Pune? please guide me.

- It is nothing to worry about. It is still curable.

- It may be drug resistance that has caused you recurrence of tuberculosis. I advice you to do Drug sensitivity testing of the tuberculosis. You can think for rapid nucleic acid amplification testing (NAAT) like GeneXpert. It will give result in hours so treatment can be started according to it.

- I am not belong to XXXXXXX so I dont know about the Doctors there. But you can consult the Doctor who has done M.D. in tuberculosis and chest disease.

I reviewed your report. It says Mycobacterium tuberculosis is not detected.

So you are negative for tuberculosis.

There is no need for further treatment.

There are other causes of swelling in the lymohnode.
