Question : I have developed a rash that initially was only on the backs of my hands and few spots on my chest. my dermatologist thought it was just an allergic reaction to something outside. I have been using desonate and it has done nothing. The rash has spread to all parts of my body, except me face. They are reddish bumps that are pin size to 1 cm and are flat and rough. They do not itch at all. I had a sore throat an entire week before this rash, but the sore throat is gone. Also, I take lamictal and am wondering if this could be a side effect. I have been taking 400mg a day for years, but i might have aaccidentally taken it twice last saturday (4/11). the rash started appearing on sunday (4/12).

                                    Brief Answer:
Pityriasis roseae
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query and photographs.
You are suffering from pityriasis roseae.
The etiology of this is unknown but usually believed to be an allergic reaction to microorganisms causing sore throat.
I treat such patients with mometasone lotion and vitamin E capsules.
This gives good response in a week.
It's not a reaction to medicine.
There is nothing to worry.
It is not a dangerous condition.
Thank you.

I was reading about this and it says reactivation of herpes 6 and/or 7. Is that sexually transmitted? I have never tested positive for herpes. I did make a mistake and had unprotected sex and it was the next day or 2 that i developed the sore throat .
