Suggest Treatment For Respiratory Infection In A Child
Nothing to worry
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day
Dear XXXX
Majority of respiratory infection are viral in origin and self limiting. All that it is required is symptomatic treatment. There is some amount of bronchospasm during to airway hyper reactivity in infants so Asthalin nebulisation is given. The drowsiness is definitely not due to either antibiotics nor nebulisation. Relief provided with nebulisation could have put the baby to sleep. Allow him to sleep, when he wakes up ensure adequate hydration and nutrition.
I usually recommend plain normal saline nebulisation , which is also equally effective. If the following criteria are fulfilled then there seems to be no cause for concern
1. Baby accepting feeds well
2. Respiration is normal and not hurried
3. Sleeps well after feeds
