Suggest Treatment For Runny Nose With Excessive Phlegm In A Child
You have to be patient as it can take a week or so.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
Most often respiratory tract infections in children are due to viral cause. They do not respond to antibiotics and irrespective of treatment it takes 5-7 days for recovery to occur. Till then, steam inhalation should be the mainstay of treatment. Just place the child on your lap and place the source of steam before you. Water vapor will be in the air and automatically the child will breathe it in. It will help in diluting the phlegm and would provide relief. Laveta (levocetirizine) is an antiallergic which should take care of the runny nose and should be given for a few days.
I do not think Kofarest (terbutaline) is required unless she has wheezing or respiratory distress. Asthalin (salbutamol) is very similar to it and serves almost the same purpose and unless wheezing is present, it is not essential.
Let me know if I could help further.
