Suggest Treatment For Scabbing In Nostril Post Surgery For Perforated Septum
Question: One year ago, I had surgery for a perforated septum the same time I had a rhineoplasty. I saw my surgeon yesterday and he said that my right nostril looks great. It is pink. My left nostril, however, has scabbing. I used AYR ointment until yesterday when I discovered Aquaphor by Eucerin. It has made a HUGE difference. My surgeon wants me to come back in 6 mos. I am still nervous about having crusts or scabbing in my left nostril one year after surgery. What do you think this is? Should I see an ENT?
Brief Answer:
Need not worry
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your query.
Since it involves healing of mucous membrane there could be such difference and complications but they do not leave any long term marks.
I would still suggest you to consult an ENT specialist for a second opinion as he can be able to examine and assure you the same.
Hope, I answered your query.
Wish you good health.
regards,

Not sure of your answer. What does "such difference and complications mean". Do you think the surgery is still successful?
Brief Answer:
Scabbing cannot be serious
Detailed Answer:
Hi again,
I meant to say that the scabbing you have in the left nostril could not be serious and such complications are common in healing of a mucous membrane.
I would consider the surgery a success.
But I would like to suggest you to get examined by an ENT specialist for a second opinion.
Regards,

Brief Answer:
yes, the nostril should turn pink
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Kindly attach a picture of the left nostril if the scab can be seen in.
I shall see and comment on the same.
I shall advice on switching the Aquaphor once I have a look at the nostril image.

Brief Answer:
not more than weeks
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Using Aquaphor does help. It may fasten the healing and may take not more than 2 to 3 weeks.
Do get examined by ENT specialist as, the appearance and consistency of it is very important in judging the healing speed.
