Suggest Treatment For Scalp Psoriasis
Question: Hello Sir,
I have psoriasis ( plaque ) on the back side of the head ( scalp ), the doctor has advised me Azithral 500 mg - 1 dose @ night time for a week and application Chetomesh SF cream twice a day, after having these medications for the recommended tenure I was relieved but now again the lump is back. It's itching and painful, also I have noticed a lump in the back ear which giving me pain in the ear.
Wanted to check is there any long term solution of this ? Also, I am also noticing rough and itchy skin in my ear canal.

Hi
Thanks for being at healthcaremagic
For scalp psoriasis I usually recommend my patients to use a salicylic acid and coal tar shampoo.
It will take of the psoriatic plaques on a long term basis.
Also I recommend my patients to apply a steroid lotion like clobetasol propionate or halobetasol lotion on the affected areas of the scalp and ear twice daily for 2-3 weeks.
This will take care of the flares of psoriasis.
For itching I recommend my patients to take tablet Levocetrizine 5 mg once or twice daily depending on the intensity of itching.
These all are prescription drugs and should be taken under a doctor's supervision.
