Suggest Treatment For Sensitivity On Thigh, Severe Ankle And Feet Swelling
Question: Hi. I had hip replacement surgery a year and half ago. I still have sensetivity on the side of my thigh(oh it is the right leg for surgery) I also have severe ankle and feet swelling, but the left side is worse. It was three times it's size now it is just twice the size in ankles. Is this a usual case. Also have been diagnosed with Meralgia Paresthetica and Sacroilitis since surgery.. Is all this usual after having surgery, They want to do mt left hip in time, if this is the way it turns out. I will dismiss another surgery. Can you advise me or rather suggest anything to reduce the swelling at least, I can deal with the sensitive side.

The swelling of both the feet that you have is not related to the hip replacement surgery. It can be due to cellulitis, congestive heart failure, kidney disease, arthritis, high altitude, high salt intake and any blood clot in the veins causing DVT. Are you taking some medicines like laxatives? Abusing these can also cause bilateral pedal edema.
Sensitivity can be due to nerve damage, low vitamin B 12 levels, thyroid disease or vascular deformity. You have to get a NCV( nerve conduction velocity) test done to assess the damage to the nerves. Till that time, wear flat slippers and take some vitamin B12 which is helpful in nerve injuries.
I suggest you to wait till cardio consultation. You need to get blood tests, kidney function tests, electrolyte levels, ECG and stress ECHO, venous Doppler of the legs, Vitamin B 12 levels, NCV (nerve conduction velocity) and urine tests done to find the cause of swelling.
It is best to wait till the swelling subsides and then consider for the left hip replacement.
