Question: bit.ly/askdrkaushalbhavsar I have been following your instructions for 9 days - Symbicort - 20 min later Pulmicort Flexhaler - 2X daily. My breathing is getting worse and I am having more 'episodes' which take longer to come out of. Any idea what may be the problem?

Brief Answer:
This is mostly due to your underlying lung disease (severe COPD).

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow up question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
See COPD is irreversible lung disease. It damages lung permanently.
So this might be the reason for your worsening.
Another reason is lung infection.
Most common cause for COPD worsening is lung infection.
So you should get done fresh chest x ray and sputum examination for culture and sensitivity report.
Culture report will isolate the causative organism and sensitivity report will guide about effective antibiotic treatment.
You should also try newer ultra long acting inhaled drugs (indacaterol and glycopyrollium). These are latest in COPD treatment which are indicated specifically in uncontrolled severe COPD patients.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
