Suggest Treatment For Severe GERD
Question: I have GERD and take meds for it. About 30 minutes to an hour after I go to sleep I either start coughing up stomach acid or it wakes me up coming out my mouth and nose. This week or so along with the yellowish acid is this black stuff. I was just wondering if I should be concerned?

Thanks for your query and I do understand your concern.
This is a severe form pf GERD; you have to be really careful and regular in taking the medicines and follow the advise strictly.
The black stuff is not to be much worried about as the blood turns into coffee colored in stomach- not black. Yet to make sure you should have told this to your Gastroenterologist.
For GERD- go for a proper diet and medicines- you will be fine:::
*Soft bland diet without oil and spices.
*Pantoprazole
*Domperidone
*Antacid gel when on empty stomach.
*Anxiety is one of the most important factors causing GERD, you need to control it or have your Doctor prescribe a medicine for this too. Change of lifestyle which suits to have a calm and quiet life is a must.
* Sleep in a reclining / heads side up position. This too helps a lot.
* Avoid all the foods and beverages , particularly anything which contains preservatives.
