Suggest Treatment For Severe Abdominal Pain, Nausea And Acid Reflux

default
Posted on Tue, 14 Feb 2017
Question: I have been having a problem with my stomach feeling too full after only eating or drinking a small amount. This has been going on for 6 days. I am having some bowel cramping and gas at night, but not during the day at all. I have always had some digestive issues, but this stomach 'fullness' all day long is new to me. I am allergic to some foods and tend to get cramping and bowel discomfort occasionally, buy this is very different. I have no pain in my stomach or nausea or acid reflux going on. I have been eating a healthy diet with all of the foods that work well for me and drinking 13-16 glasses of water a day for the past few weeks. I've upped my intake to help lose a few pounds. I'm eating a healthy 1300-1500 calories a day and moderately working out like usual. Maybe too much water? I also ate some sushi the day this started. Don't know if this has anything to do with what's going on.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome

I appreciate your concern

Based on your description, the one marked point is the 13 to 16 glasses of water. If its a 250 ml glass then its much more water than you need. It can cause the sensation of fullness by itself or its interaction with the food. I would advise you to lower it by 4 to 5 glasses. The fullness can be associated with sluggish bowel movement and GERD. PPIs like lansoprazole along with gastro kinetic such as domeperidone for a week can be helpful in resolution of the symptoms. If you experience any epigastric pain or discomfort then do get it checked and preferably an EKG should be done to rule out a cardiac cause which can atypically present as epigastric pain.

Wishing you best of health

Thanks
