Question: Hello... I am still dealing with the sudden death of my beloved son (age 45) during a routine surgery on May 20th of last year. I'm doing okay and have wonderful support, but over the last few weeks I feel as if I have what I guess you could describe as a "nervous stomach" ... no pain, some gas... normal movements... I use no drugs, I don't smoke, no alcohol... I feel nervous now and then, but not too bad. I'm calling my Dr. tomorrow to see him, but I just felt better right now if I spoke to someone. Can you please help me?

Brief Answer:
relaxation and deep breathing exercise

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us. I am sorry for beloved son. I can understand your feelings.

It has been almost more than 6 months of that incident. Your problem is there since last few weeks.

Only complain of nervousness may be part of anxiety or some indigestion problem.
You have narrated well that there is no pain and normal movements but some gas and nervous stomach. This stomach upset itself can cause anxiety or vice-a-versa (anxiety can cause stomach upset). With history and examination diagnosis can be done.

For a while take light food at specific scheduled time. Do relaxation exercise. During nervousness deep breathing will help. Take deep slow breathing. Inhale for 3 seconds, keep breath in for 3 seconds and exhale for 3 seconds. Do it for 10-15 minutes. You will feel relax

I need some information.

- What about your sleep and appetite, any disturbance?

- What about your mood most of the time of the day, is it ok ,sad or anxious?

- Do you have any negative thoughts or crying spells?

- Have people around you noticed any changes in your behavior or mood?

- Do you have nay physical problem and any medicine for the same?

Hope I have answered your query, I will be happy to help further.
Regards,
Dr.Chintan Solanki.
