default
Posted on Tue, 18 Oct 2016
Question: Hello, I am a healthy active 46 year old female with HIGH PAIN THRESHOLD. Since mid-July I have had severe neck, shoulder & arm pain on my right side. My fingers tingle and many times go numb. The pain has moved more into outside of my arm. Very stiff in the neck & shoulder. x ray shows slight compression on C5 & C6, but was told wasn't too abnormal (?). Chiro can't adjust my neck. and acupuncture although relieved pain for few weeks isn't helping much anymore. Not sure what my next step is. who do I seek out for diagnosis and treatment? Pain is becoming constant and unbearable. Thank you for guidance! XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Possibility of cervical radiculopathy, get Mri cervical spine

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through your question and understand your concern.
Neck pain and radiation may be due to cervical radiculopathy.
You need to get Mri of cervical spine as x-ray is not good for soft tissue examination.
Any restriction of movement at shoulder?Any diabetes or history of neck trauma?
You should continue physiotherapy.
Take pain killers with muscle relaxant like naproxen or aceclofenac with tizanidine or thiocholchicoside.
Pregabalin, gabapentin or amitriptyline can also be added.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
