Hello,
Arm pain is commonly due to overuse, age related wear and tear, injury, tear of the ligament, tendon, bones, joints, OA,
muscle pain, inflammatory condition,
arthritis, etc. Tingling or pain in the fingers or hand (especially the left hand) may be signs of arthritis or may be indicative of a
heart attack. Take
acetaminophen, one stat when needed, to reduce the swelling. You can apply pain relieving sprays or ointment. Do not massage. If it is due to OA, RA, you can keep moving your fingers and do finger exercises to reduce pain.
If some
fracture is detected compressive wraps applied not tightly effectively give comfort. Taking anti-inflammatory medications (e.g. NSAIDs) can reduce swelling, especially when swelling is caused by arthritis. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP or cardiologist. Get all cardiac function tests, blood tests for OA/RA, etc., and required imaging tests done to rule out any fracture of the bone or tear of ligament / tendon so that the treatment can be started at the earliest.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
