Question: I am a long sufferer of arthritis - not sure which kind, but the pharmacy has been unable to contact my prescribing doctor to refill my meds (Meloxicam). Is there an alternative over the counter med I can use to help until I see the doctor again in about a month?

Brief Answer:
Use etoricoxib

Detailed Answer:
Hi I am Dr Gopal Goel Orthopedic Surgeon.
Meloxicam is non steroidal anti -inflammatory drug used to treat drug used to treat arthritis.
Since you are not able to get the regular supply , I would suggest you start on Etoricoxib or etorodolac for the time being. These medicines have fewer side effects compared to diclofenac or Ibuprofen.Or you can use simple paracetamol for
some time as a pain reliever,
