Suggest Treatment For Severe Constipation While On Metamucil
Polyethylene glycol electrolyte solution.
Detailed Answer:
Immediate relief
You can ask you gastro enterologist to prescribe you Polyethelene Glycol.Polyethylene glycol-electrolyte solution is used to empty the colon. PEG-ES is in a class of medications called osmotic laxatives. It works by causing watery diarrhea so that -the stool can be emptied from the colon. The medication also contains electrolytes to prevent dehydration and other serious side effects that may be caused by fluid loss as the colon is emptied.Polyethylene glycol-electrolyte solution (PEG-ES) comes as a powder to mix with water and take by mouth. You have to drink one 8 ounce of PEG-ES every 10 or 15 minutes, and to continue drinking until your liquid bowel movements are clear. It will clear your bowel.,you can take Magnesium citrate also.It is also a osmotic diuretic with same effect as Polyethylene glycol.Take it as and when required.
Long term suggestion
.Take 10 to 30 ml of lactulose solution daily before going to bed,Its a laxative and will make your stools soft.
Due to the use of antispasmodics and other medicines(you are on a number of medicines} your internal flora is disturbed causing digestive problem ,hence i would suggest you to take over counter Probiotics for atleast 2 weeks .Once the intestinal flora is replenished the mobiility of gut is restored and constipation will improve.
Apart from medicines some other things to be followed are-
Eat lot of raw vegetables and fruits
Atleast 30mg fibres should be taken daily.Don't overtake them.
Take one glass XXXXXXX warm water with lemon in it early morning.
Do some streching exercise in morning.
Eat some fat in breakfast in morning this will help in constipation.
Avoid cold milk and dairies.
Triphala churna is a combination of three unique herbs which are found to be very effective for the treatment of any type of gastric disorders especially constipation.Google it on XXXXXXX
