Suggest Treatment For Severe Cough And Cold In A Child
Could be tonsillitis, allergic rhinitis or tuberculosis.
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Welcome to HCM.
I have read your question in detail and I know that you are very concerned about your child but don't worry.
A 5 year child getting recurrent cough and cold could be due to tonsillitis, tuberculosis or allergic rhinitis.
Since, the child also had 2 episodes of fever in last 2 months possibility of tonsillitis is very much.
I suggest you to do a complete blood count with esr to know whether child is allergic or not. Mountoux test, X ray chest to rule out tuberculosis.
To rule out tonsillitis, an examination of throat by doctor is mandatory. If child has tonsillitis, then most probably she will need antibiotic.
In my opinion, you should take the child to an ent specialist for examination of throat so that we don't miss any unusual condition.
I would also like to know whether child has wheezing episodes or there is need of nebulisation.
Review back with above reports and continue giving cough syrup till then.
I hope this will help you.
Wishing your child good health.
Take care.
No possibility of asthma as a cause.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
If there are no wheezing episodes or need of nebulisation then we can safely rule out asthma as a cause of this cold and cough.
Snoring can be due to cold and right now nothing needs to be done for snoring.
Take care.
