Suggest Treatment For Severe Dry Cough And Sleeplessness At Night While Breastfeeding
Yes, she can, provided she uses the right dose
Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX
Normally, mothers who breastfeed can safely give breast milk to the baby despite using any medicine, except for some anticancer drugs, hormones etc. XXXXXXX P has no such dangerous ingredients. However, it does have sedatives. A very small amount of the sedative may pass through the breast milk, but it will not have any untoward effects on the baby, as long as she sticks to the correct dose, which should be about 10 ml per dose.
One question, though ... why is she using XXXXXXX P ... and not XXXXXXX expectorant. The latter medicine might be more appropriate for her.
Take care, and do revert if any more questions due on this answer.
Dr. Taher, with regards.
