Posted on Fri, 7 Nov 2014
Question: 6 yr old child, diagnosed with 2 severe ear infections. She was given antibiotic, day and nite allergy meds and Motrin. A few days later she has nitemares, wakes screaming and does not know where she is. She was taken back to the doctor, they then found she has strep also. As for the nitemares, they said she has tremors and eventually they will go away. In the meantime the child is so totally exhausted and scared. What is tremors and should we be concerned??? Her dr was too busy to answer our questions.

Brief Answer:
Do not get too concerned unless it persists!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about what your daughter is currently experiencing. tremors involuntary shaking or vibrating muscle movements. As these symptoms were associated with drugs, they should soon get resolved especially after the antibiotic is stopped or treatment is over. If I may ask, what antibiotics was she placed on?

For now, there is no reason to get too concerned as these symptoms should subside sooner than later. Unless they persists after treatment or get worse during treatment, I will suggest that you stay calm until a few days after treatment. If the child no longer has fever, has no rash, and eats well, it is more reason for you to be calm and relaxed. Getting exhausted is expected because of the the child is sick.

I hope this helps. I wish your daughter well. Thank you so much for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
