Question: I have a ear ache that hurts down my throat also.

Pain in the ear can be due to problems with the ear itself or it may be referred/sent from other structures in the area.
If the ear has been thoroughly examined and ear related causes ruled out then referred causes need to be considered.
Some referred causes include: (a) related to some of the cranial nerves which are the nerves that come directly from the brain ( not spinal cord) and pass through different areas of the skull
With cranial nerve five- a condition called temporal neuralgia
Cranial nerve seven- XXXXXXX hunt syndrome
Cranial nerve nine- conditions of the throat
(b)teeth and jaws
(C)salivary glands
(D)nasal passages and nasopharynx (upper part of throat that is connected to the nasal passages)- infection or a hidden growth can cause pain
(E)thyroiditis- inflammation of the thyroid gland can sometimes present in this way
Your doctor can assess for these conditions. This would require physical examination and blood tests such as complete blood count, ESR (checks for inflammation), thyroid function tests and imaging eg x ray or CT
Treatment would depend on the cause found
