Cause of your disease and management
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX thanks for asking from HCM.
I can understand your concern. You have described your history very thoroughly. I can say that you are having four systems problems - Brain (seizure and psychological distress), skin (eczema), musculoskeletal (muscle tremors, fatigue) and gastrointestinal (hypersensitivity to food). Now to approach your illness and treatment of it require equal attention to every system at the same time. Because any system left untreated can cause affect on others like if eczema persists, it can cause depression.
For management, you have to consult neuropsychiatrist, dermatologist and gastroenterologist. I know it requires lots of effort to approach all these doctors. But you are so young and you are suffering so much. You must get complete relief.
I will give you some insight about your problems and tell you how to manage them.
- Seizures - It can be treated by anti epileptic drugs depending upon the type of seizure. Usually generalised seizures are managed by valproate and focal by levetiracetam. If your seizures are controlled for more than 3 years, no need of these. Just avoid precipitating factors like
lack of sleep
skipping meals
exposure to bright light
mental stress
- Brain fog, chronic fatigue and even muscle tremors can be due to poor psychological health. You might be having active depression along with anxiety. It is very much possible as you are having multi system disease. It can be treated by antidepressants like Fluoxetine or escitelopram and anxiolytics like clonazepam. You can take these medication only after consulting psychiatrist. You can also follow few tips for you psychological health
Do Yoga and mediation daily.
Pursue your hobbies like travelling/painting/singing/watching movies/sports
Watch comedy shows/serials
Share your problem with friends, family
Sleep well. At least 8 hours daily
Eat healthy food like green vegetables, fruits, yoghurt, fish.
Avoid alcohol, smoking or drug abuse.
- Eczema - I cannot suggest much about eczema as I am a neurologist-surgeon. Please consult a good skin specialist for it.
- Hypersensitivity to food - It might be due to food allergy or medications (antiallergic, antiepeileptic or antidepressants). Usually food low in spices and oil are tolerated by most people. Try to eat more in day time as compared to dinner. Take small meals multiple times to increase digestion. Avoid drinking water in between the food. For gastritis, you can take tablet pantoprazole and gastric enzyme supplements after prescription. The enzyme supplements take care of indigestion.
Hope it will help you. If any doubt, do let me know. I will try my best to help you.
Stay healthy. God bless you.
Thanks.
