Suggest Treatment For Severe Edema After Taking Spiriva
Brief Answer:
Spiriva out of system in 2 weeks
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns
You have been taking Spiriva for COPD without improvement and new onset edema possibly from the spiriva. You stopped the spiriva 5 days ago but the swelling persists. The Spiriva has a very long half life meaning it stays in your system for a long time. It may take 2 weeks for the spiriva to get out of your system altogether.
If you are having increasing shortness of breath and increased swelling I recommend that you see your medical provider or at least call them. You could be having increased congestive heart failure.
I hope I answered your question. Please contact us again if you have any additional questions

Dear Dr. Schubert,
Thank you.
Do you think the use of the Himalayan salt inhaler is safe. All reports are good concerning its use for COPD. Just wondering if it could contribute to swelling or just wait through the Spiriva withdrawal.
I have never been diagnosed with CHF- could it start after the use of Spiriva. Last saw my Doctor in Nov. when he prescribed the Handihaler.
I live in a city (Pgh.Pa) filled with physicians yet it is nearly impossible to get in touch or have a house call...
I know times have changed-I watched my father leave the house at all hours to see his patients.
Now, I sit with an IPad and hope for answers!
Again, thank you.
