Suggest Treatment For Severe Facet Arthropathy
Question: I have severe facet arthropathy , extruded disc and severe canal stenosis. I got an epidural steroid injection 2 days ago at L 4-5 . The pain prior to the injection was severe in both buttocks and down back of both legs. Since the epidural injection, the pain has been reduced 70%. My question is-- the pain doctor wants to do 2 more.. each 3 weeks apart. Do you think it is a good idea to do 2 more?
Also, should I start physical therapy now or wait until after the next 2 injections? Im worried about all the stretching when it feels better now.
I really benefit from deep tissue massage therapy in the past. Is that ok? I just dont want to hurt the back again and want your opinion on what is best.?

Brief Answer:
Complete the injection schedule
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through your question and understand your concern.
You should get the other two injection too at the recommended schedule.
Physiotherapy should be started gradually once the pain has decreased substantially.
Postural care is important. Avoid stooping forward, lifting heavy objects, sitting crossed leg or squatting.
Severe stenosis may require surgical intervention if medical treatment fails.
