Suggest Treatment For Severe Fever In A Child

Question: on saturday night my son had fever of 101 and on sunady it was normal and at night again 103 & monday it was 104 to 105, we have visited the doctor he made some tests, report enclosed. now they told us to come on tuseday when the the typhoid report comes. i am very much worried about that , the ferver is constatnt 104. doc have given some anti biotic tabs & fever syupr. pls help me out

I have gone through your question and the attached reports. The symptoms and reports are most likely due to urinary tract infection (UTI) and unlikely due to typhoid.

I would recommend you to get his early morning mid stream clean catch urine sample and send it to lab for culture and sensitivity test. This will help in definitive treatment of UTI if present.

Start him on antibiotics such as Cefixime along with antipyretics for fever. You may give Syp. Meftal P for very high grade fever episodes not improving with paracetamol.

Upload the report for my reference. It usually takes 2 days to come.

The stool report is normal. If coughing is severe and more at night then start Syp. Ambroxol D and XXXXXXX can be used for relief.
