Suggest Treatment For Severe Hair Loss
Question: Hello,
I am concerned about my severe hair fall problem.
I had very normal hair fall issues before pregnancy. Then I gave birth to my first child in XXXXXXX 2015 and since then i started having hair fall issue. Hair fall after delivery is quite common thing i know. But I had various other reasons too that made it severe.
I had the problem of Hormonal Imbalance soon after delivery, due to which I suffered spotting/bleeding issue for a year and increased hair fall as well. Moreover my husband was posted in a remote area and I was there with him for a year and that place had no other water source than the underground lime water which is neither good for drinking, hair wash or bathing. Though we used mineral water to drink but bathing & hair wash was done with the lime water. This caused severe hair fall and too much of dandruff problem in me and for my husband too hair fall problem began.
Now I am very scared of loosing all my hair soon as the amount of hair fall with every brush or after bath is so much that I feel like a patient and the dandruff is so much that in the mirror I can see it all over my scalp.
Please suggest some effective medicine or product-
FOR ME:
1. Anti Hair fall (severe)
2. Anti Dandruff
FOR MY HUSBAND:
1. Anti Hair fall

I am dr.kakkar(dermatologist). I have gone through your query and noted your concern.
You may use protar k shampoo every alternate days for dandruff. In addition you may use topisal 6% lotion for scalp application every night for 2 weeks. Together these will greatly reduce hair fall due to dandruff.
In addition you may use topical minoxidil 5% solution (Regaine), 1 ml- twice daily.
I would also suggest a tablet of biotin (Revilus tablet) once daily.

Thank you Doctor. But can you please tell me for how long do i need to consume the medicines you mentioned(topical minoxidil and biotin)? And will this solve the damage caused by lime water as well? everyone living at that remote island suffers the same hair loss issue caused by the lime water. Will these medicines promote hair growth?

You need to use the medications for at least 4-6 months for noticeable improvement. Lime water is harsh on hair. Of course you need to find a way out and avoid using lime water for head wash.
Also use protar-k shampoo for dandruff/ scaling

ok Doctor. I have one more query and that's regarding the skin problem I have been facing since childhood as it seems to be hierarchial(from my dad's mom).
The doctors here suggested that it was Eczema and adviced variour ointments but I found relief in PROPYSALIC but the only problem with the ointment is hat the solution is temporary because after few days the eczema is back. The finers of my hands and legs as well as the ankel and back side of my foots are affected. I am sending the images for reference.
Can you please advice a permanent solution to this as I don't want my baby to have it from me. Any medicine to eat that can cure it from the roots permanently or ointment? I have been hiding my legs since childhood in public can you advice any permanent solution please!

Unfortunately there is no permanent cure for it. It can come back after seemingly complete cure.
Nevertheless you can prolong periods of remission (lesion free periods) by using a moisturiser regularly e.g a urea or ammonium lactate based mosituriser e.g Ureativ 20% cream Or Amylac Cream.
You may use propysalic ointment specifically for the patches after the application of moisturiser and once the patches resolve you may still continue with moistuirser for maintenance of improvement.
