Question: A week ago I had a terrible Migraine headache followed by terrible stomach cramps that went up into my rib area and I thought it was some kind of flu and I spent 2 days in bed (missed work the pain was so bad). I still have the stomach pain/cramping and am wondering if maybe I have ulcers or something?

Detailed Answer:
Hi! Welcome to health care magic! Thanks for sharing your concerns with us. We will try to help you in best way possible. First of all, it is sad to know what you had gone through.

Based on the history you have shared, the migraine could have been triggered by the pain itself, as migraine mostly is triggered by some external factors.

For the pains that you have mentioned, it is quite possible that ulcer may can present without altered GI habbits but you need to look for other causes like gall stones or infection etc too so I would suggest you to have an ultrasound abdomen and blood workup for liver functions and serum amylase. If it persists a detailed gastroentrologist review and suggestions regarding endoscopy can be sought.

Medication will still aim at antacids and motility agents like domperidone but if cramps are severe you can use anti spasmodic like drotaverine instead of domperidone. Meanwhile avoid heavy greasy meals and junk foods. For migraine, you may need triptans alongwith beta blockers like propanolol for long term.
Wishing you a speedy recovery. Hope this has answered your query, if you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Regards.
