Suggest Treatment For Severe Infection In Throat

Ferrous tablets are the iron supplements to boost the hemoglobin levels...
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for posting the query
I have gone through your query and understood your problem thoroughly. I will try my best to help you with this problem.
1. Ferrous tablets are iron supplements prescribed to boost your hemoglobin levels. Reduced hemoglobin levels can lead to recurrent infections as it decreases the immunity in the body.
2. The foods rich in iron are spinach, liver (chicken, beef, turkey), dark-green leafy vegetables such as watercress and curly XXXXXXX pulses and beans, nuts and seeds, fish, eggs, dried fruit, such as dried apricots, prunes and raisins.
3. Recurrent attacks of cold causes nasal block and one tends to breathe through the mouth. Soreness of the throat following consumption of chilled beverages is due to dry and inflamed throat secondary to mouth breathing.
4. My suggestions to you are:
a. Drink plenty of warm water. Warm water reduces the inflammation of the mucosa by increasing the blood circulation.
b. Do steam inhalation 2-3 times a day. Steam helps in alleviating the nasal congestion and easy clearance of the nasal secretions.
c. Try using intranasal steroid spray. Recurrent cold secondary to allergy can be controlled by this.
d. Avoid chilled food and beverages, excess coffee/tea, fizzy drinks and smoking (if any).
Hope this answers your query; revert back to me if you have any follow-up queries.

The soreness is due to inflamed mucosa...
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome back
It is very unusual for the muscles to get sore in the throat. The soreness or the inflammation is most commonly in the mucosa (the layer lining the throat) and the symptoms aggravate when the tongue rubs over the inflamed mucosa.
I do feel, you would require a thorough examination of the nose to assess the nasal block and the throat to look for any other problems such as Laryngopharyngeal reflux.
The best treatment for you is to drink plenty of warm water, try using saline nasal spray to relieve the nasal block and povidone iodine throat spray or gargles for the relief of throat symptoms.
If you do not get better with the above medications, consult an apt ENT specialist for a complete evaluation and management.
Hope this clarifies your doubts. Wish you good health.
