My child is at 7 years 10 month suffering adenoid hypertrophy.last from 6 month. In winter season there is a little hearing problem, snoring sound, mouth breathing, keep open his mouth conti.ly for breathing.after treatment with antibiotic +Mometasone spray.no hearing problem(may be due to fall off summer season).so sir what i will do eitheri will proceed for surgery or medicinal treatment or i will for wait for the age.If surgery where it is better
The history about your 7 year and 10 month old child is indicative of adenoid hypertrophy. I would suggest you the following: - Continue the courses of antibiotic - Anti-inflammatory medicine - Xylometazolinenasal spray for pediatric use - Oral decongestant - Oral steroids in short tapering dose course helps in most of the patients - Most important is to have assessment of enlargement of adenoid hypertrophy by lateral neck X-ray or still better by CT scan or MRI preferably to avoid radiation
This will give the best idea about the stage. If the medical line of treatment fails to have symptomatic improvement as well as radiological findings then surgery to remove adenoids is the best and permanent way. You can take a few more opinions of different ENT surgeon before going for surgery.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
