Suggest Treatment For Severe Left Shoulder Pain
Pain killers and physical therapy
Detailed Answer:
I read your question carefully and I understand your concern.
Such pain as you describe may be in the setting of a peripheral nerve issue, in particular compression of a nerve root in the neck. Most common cause is due to chronic degenerative arthritic changes of the spine which may lead to bulging discs, bony spurs, thickening of ligaments and joint surface etc, changes which in turn may cause nerve root compression.
In terms of what can help anti-inflammatory painkillers like naproxen, ibuprofen etc may help alleviate the pain. Muscle relaxants like Flexeril, may be added for a couple of weeks. A cervical collar carried for a couple of weeks may also help.
The most important measure though for long term benefit would be physical therapy where you'll learn exercises to strengthen neck muscles in order for them to better support the spine.
I remain at your disposal for other questions.
